153rd Anniversary Battle of New Market Reenactment on original 1864 battlefield property at New Market Battlefield State Historical Park, New Market, Virginia. One of the oldest continual reenactments in the nation. Event features battles both days – ‘Tactical Battle’ on Saturday and ‘Battle of New Market May 15, 1864’ on Sunday. Artillery, cavalry, infantry & signal corps demonstrations, military, medical corps & civilian living history presentations, and period church service on Sunday. The Virginia Museum of Civil War will hold Civil War Adventure Camp (2.5 hour program) on Saturday for children ages 7-12. ($35 cost per child includes reenactment admission for child plus one accompanying adult.) Spectator tickets include admission to the Virginia Museum of the Civil War and free parking. New Market Residents free admission with proof of residency (driver’s license). Food service available from civic organizations. All proceeds to New Market Battlefield Park.
